Newer NETGEAR routers prompt you to change the default password during the setup process for improved security. If you have an older NETGEAR router, or to change the admin password to something else after setup, you can do so from the router web interface.

If you haven't changed your WiFi network name and password before, look for the default network name and password on the label on the side or bottom of your Wireless Gateway:Then, if you want to change it:

The most common default username is admin, and its most common password is either admin or password.

To perform any router configuration setup or to enable or disable network access and improve security measures, your Arris router login is a useful asset. Either way, you need to access the Arris login gateway.

The Arris router web interface is your router's control panel. To make any changes to your device settings, you must first log in to your Arris router. Below we will provide three straightforward steps for an Arris router login.

Most Arris routers can be reset using the reset button at the bottom of the device. If you are facing a tough time locating the reset button, go through the user manual. The manuals include all details regarding the Arris login, and Arris router reset procedures, including the position of the reset button.

The admin password is used to access the web-based setup page of your Linksys router for configuration and settings update or verification. It also prevents unauthorized access and changes to your router. The default password for Linksys routers is admin. The admin password is NOT the same as your WiFi password. Changing the admin password is recommended for optimum security. Some of the common applications that require the admin password are listed below:

Once you have successfully retrieved your admin password, make sure to write it down and store it securely for future use.Find out more:The different types of passwords on your Linksys router

Before you can change a router's password or name, you need to know its IP address. This is what you'll enter in your internet browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge) to access the configuration page.

The default IP address for most routers is usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. If these IP addresses don't work, check the bottom, back or side of the device or its user manual for an IP address or access URL.

If the IP address written on your router doesn't work, it could mean that the manufacturer or internet service provider has changed it recently. Luckily, you can easily find a router's IP address using your computer or phone.

2. Log into your router using its username and password. The default username and password are often admin or userAdmin. If they don't work, check your device, as they can be written on its back, side, or bottom. You can also contact the router's manufacturer or your internet service provider to find out what they are.

Your router's default name or, to use the more technical term, Service Set Identifier (SSID) will be something generic, but you can change it to something easily identifiable and more meaningful, like Smith's Home Wi-Fi.

If you can't remember your Wi-Fi password, you can bypass the password requirement by connecting to the router using an ethernet cable. Then, follow the steps mentioned above to reset your Wi-Fi password.

If you don't have an ethernet cable, you can reset the router. Doing this will return it to its factory default settings, meaning the current Wi-Fi password will be erased, along with the router's password.

3. Enter the default username and password for your router. The manufacturer will place this information somewhere on the back, or underneath the device. If you can't find it, contact the manufacturer.

Your router stores the settings for your home Wi-Fi network. If you want to change something on your network, you have to log in to your router's software, also known as firmware. From there, you can rename your network, modify the password, adjust the security level, and set up or alter a variety of other options.

To find your router's IP address, type cmd in the Windows search bar open the Command Prompt. Type ipconfig and run the command. Scroll through the information until you see a setting for Default Gateway under Ethernet adapter or Wireless LAN adapter. That's your router, and the number next to it is your router's IP address.

After you type the IP address, you're asked for a username and password to access your router's firmware. This is either the default username and password for your router, or a unique username and password that you may have created when you set up the router. If you don't remember your login credentials, signing in becomes a bit trickier.

Some routers offer a password-recovery feature. If this is true of your router, this option should appear after you enter the wrong username and password a certain number of times. Typically, this window will ask for your router's serial number, which you can find on the bottom or side of the router.

If you never changed the router's login credentials, many use a default username of admin and a default password of password. Try that combination to see if it works. Otherwise your best bet is to run a web search for the default username and password for your router brand, such as Netgear, Linksys, Asus, or TP-Link.

Another option is check out the Router Passwords website(Opens in a new window), where you can select the manufacturer of your router to get a list of default usernames and passwords. Try each of the suggestions to get in to your router.

You should change your router's username and password if they are still set to the default values. Look for an option usually nested under the Administration tab. The screen will likely ask for your current router password and then ask you to enter a new password. Some routers let you change the username and password, while others only allow the password to be changed.

The username will be the serial number (capitalized with dashes) with no password entry for devices that have not yet fetched configuration or default authentication credentials are in use. Authentication credentials may be configured under 'Network Wide > Configure > General > Device Configuration'

As mentioned in the Accessing the Local Status Page section above, the default credentials for the local status page are the serial number of the device (all upper-case with dashes) for the username, and a blank password. This can be modified to have an admin defined password. To do so, navigate to Network-wide > General > Device configuration and provide a password. This can then be used with the username "admin" to access certain pages, including the local status page.

The administrator password prevents outsiders from accessing your home network settings through your modem. If you choose to set up a customized admin password, be sure to keep it in a safe place. If you forget your custom login, you will need to reset the modem, then log in using the default credentials printed on the sticker.

CAUTION! Do not remove or lose your modem sticker, which includes your default admin username and password. These preset credentials cannot be retrieved, and your modem could become unusable without them.

To log in to your router on your phone, connect to your Wi-Fi network, install the mobile app for your router, then create an account or log in. From the app, you can change your Wi-Fi password, improve network security, enable remote access, and more.

Every router is factory pre-configured with the IP address 192.168.88.1/24 on the ether1 port. The default username is admin with no password. After you log in for the first time, please create a new user with a password in the "full" group, re-login and delete the default admin user. We highly recommend you to follow the general guidelines of the article Securing your router to protect the device from any unauthorised access. 2ff7e9595c
